2008-2009 EAST PEORIA COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL LOCAL SCHOLARSHIPS

 

ATTENTION GRADUATING SENIORS ‑ Applications are now available in Student Services for the community scholarships that are sponsored by local East Peoria organizations and families.  Please read closely the brief description of each scholarship to see if you may qualify to apply:

 

1.    EAST PEORIA ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP

 

-  EPCHS Alumni Merit Scholarship - open to seniors with a 2.50 GPA or above

planning on attending a two-year or four-year degree/certificate program

full-time.

 

-  EPCHS Scholarship - open to seniors who are planning on attending a two-year

college or a vocational school full-time.  GPA is not a criteria.

 

2.    EAST PEORIA BOOSTER CLUB "ALL SPORTS" ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP

 

  open to seniors who have been involved in one or more varsity sport.  One male and one female will be chosen.

 

3.    EAST PEORIA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE BUSINESS SCHOLARSHIP

 

 ‑Senior must plan to pursue a career in a business related field at a two year or four year post‑secondary institution.  Students must show financial      need.

 

4.    JIM SANDY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

 

 ‑open to seniors who will continue their education and are active church members. 

 

5.    EAST PEORIA EDUCATION ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP

 

 ‑open to seniors who plan to pursue a career in education at a two or four year college or university and who have a "C" or above grade average.  Financial need is considered.

 

6.    EAST PEORIA FIREFIGHTERS' LOCAL 1498 ‑ WILLIAM A. FOLMAR MEMORIAL  SCHOLARSHIP

 

  open to any student who plans to pursue a career in fire science or a career in a medical field.  Applicants may attend a two or four year school.

 

7.    EAST PEORIA KIWANIS M. DALE REVELLE SCHOLARSHIP

 

  open to graduating seniors who will attend a trade school, junior college, or university.  Financial need is a consideration.

 

8.    EAST PEORIA OPTIMIST CLUB SCHOLARSHIP

 

  open to graduating seniors who will attend a trade school, junior college or university.  Financial need is considered.

 

9.    EAST PEORIA WOMAN'S CLUB ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP

 

  open to a graduating senior in the top 25% of the class who plans to attend a four year college or university.

 

10.  EAST PEORIA WOMAN'S CLUB COMMUNITY COLLEGE/TRAINING SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP

 

     open to a graduating senior who plans to attend a vocational, trade, or training school or who plans to attend a vocational program at a community or junior college which will be completed in no more than two years.

 

 

 

 

11.  EAST PEORIA YOUTH COUNCIL

 

  open to two graduating seniors who will pursue their education at a 2 or 4 year accredited college.

 

12.  BONNIE HAGEY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

 

-open to a graduating senior planning to attend Illinois Central College after graduation.  The scholarship will be a one time award made directly to Illinois Central College.  Financial need will weigh heavily in the awarding of the scholarship.

 

13.  TERANCE J. BREWER COMMUNITY SERVICE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

 

          -open to a graduating senior who plans to attend Illinois Central College and              pursue a course of study in a social work/counseling/community service field.  Financial need is a consideration.

 

14.  LEVI S. KING MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

 

-open to a graduating senior who plans to pursue a career in firefighting or     public safety at a college or university or other post-secondary educational   institute, including vocational training.

 

15.  PATRICK CRAIG MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

 

-open to a graduating senior who plans to pursue his education at a vocational,   two year, or four year school.

 

16.     LAURA VALENTINE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

 

-open to seniors who plan to pursue his/her education at a 2 year or 4 year school in Early    Childhood/Special Education or Nursing.

 

17.  THE ANTHONY ARNOLD SCHOLARSHIP FUND

 

-open to seniors with a C average, who plan to attend Illinois Central College for 2 years and a state university for 2 years.  

 

18.  TAZEWELL COUNTY ASSOCIATION OF CHIEFS OF POLICE SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

 

   -open to seniors who plan to pursue a career in the criminal justice field at a two or four year college or university.

 

19.  KEVIN P. SCHMITT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP 

 

            - open to senior varsity baseball players with at least C average/2.0 GPA

                 planning to attend ICC or Eureka.

 

20.  TUBA CIGDEM KIROGLU MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

 

            - open to seniors involved in one or more of the following activities:

cheerleading, prom committee, yearbook committee planning to attend a 2           year or 4 year college or vocational school.        

 

21.  AARON ROWE SCHOLARSHIP

 

           - open to seniors planning to attend a 2 or 4 year school. Must have played

                  varsity baseball junior and senior year.

 

 

22.  DENNIS TRIGGS SCHOLARSHIP

 

-open to seniors who plan to pursue a career focusing on law or a career serving the public. You must have a 2.50 GPA and plan to enroll as a full-time college student

 

23.  HUNKLER-STAGEN TEACHING SCHOLARSHIP

 

         -open to graduating seniors who have been accepted into college and plan

                   to pursue a teaching career.

 

24.  SUNNYLAND BUSINESS ASSOCIATION

 

-open to seniors who are graduates of Robein Elementary School or District 50 Schools and plan to continue their education at a 2 or 4 year institution.

 

25.  McCave-Kitson Memorial Scholarship

 

         -open to seniors who plan to continue their education at a trade school, junior

            college, or university.  GPA although important is not the major criterion,

            character is.  Financial need is a consideration.

 

26.  Sam Pendola, Jr. Class of 1956 Track and Field Scholarship

 

-open to seniors with at least a 2.5 GPA intending to further his/her education at a two               or four year school with active participation in the area of Track

            & Field at the college level.

  

   27.EAST PEORIA ROTARY CLUB SCHOLARSHIP

 

-open to graduating seniors who will be attending ICC next year.  Financial need is considered.
